How "social" is Turkey? Turkey´s social security system in a European context´ was an international research project located at the Institute for World Society Studies at Bielefeld University in Germany and the Department of Political Science at Bilkent University in Ankara.

The project investigated developments in four key areas of social security since 1980: pensions, health, unemployment and social assistance. It shed light on the overall shape of Turkey´s social security system and analysed its political and ideational backgrounds.

The project was part of the programme "Blickwechsel: Contemporary Turkey Studies", funded by Stiftung Mercator.
